Augmented Fish Reality is an interactive installation of five rolling robotic fish-bowl sculptures. These sculptures allow Siamese Fighting fish (Betta Splendons) to use intelligent hardware and software to move their robotic bowls – under their control. Siamese fighting fish have excellent eyes which allow them to see outside the water. They have color vision and seem to like the color yellow. Humans interact with the work simply by entering the environment.

“May the Horse Live in me”

The performance “May the Horse Live in me” is a bio-art project and an example of extreme body art. Via blood plasma injection, an animal organism (a horse in this case) is crossed with a human organism. The idea behind it is to conduct serious therapeutic research into making equine blood compatible for human beings. To achieve this, Marion Laval-Jeantet tried various antibodies from horses’ tissue. This staged blood-sisterhood raises the question of the boundaries separating different species, and human beings’ purported superiority to animals.




5. и про вечную жизнь: The Immortalisation of Billy Apple

Billy Apple B-lymphocytes were isolated and grown in tissue culture media. These cells were then virally transformed and now grow indefinitely in cell culture medium. Without such transformation, these cells have, like the artist they are derived from, a limited life span. This artists biological tissue will not die and his reproductive potential is now unlimited.
